Counting the Days and More!
Musikfest is less than 3 weeks away! Last Friday I trekked across the Delaware River, to Bethlehem, PA to receive volunteer training and just to check out what I was getting myself into- referring to the drive and finding my way around Bethlehem. I took The Other Alice along for moral support. Since neither of us have a sense of direction, I bought a Tom Tom the day before. What a Godsend that device was! It was the best $200 I've spent in along time. Now I almost feel like the entire world is in my driving comfort zone. Without the GPS, I think that the two Alices would still be trying to find Bethlehem...
We had a great time checking out the Banana Factory, having lunch and shopping. I had promised The Other Alice that we could go antiquing but she settled for modern stuff since we didn't find any antique shops within walking distance of the Banana Factory. The Banana Factory is a really cool place. If I lived closer I would definitely take advantage of some of the art classes that they offer. I love ceramics but it's too messy to do at home and too expensive to own one's own equipment. The staff of Artsquest were also very pleasant and I think that my experience volunteering with them will be very enjoyable...Why did I volunteer? I want to spend as much time listening to CIB as possible but I know that I wouldn't be able to sit still for too long. This way, I can move around, listen the carillon all day and not worry about fidgeting (because of my TS).
The trip to Bethlehem got me really excited about seeing the carillon and hearing CIB live for the first time. I'm also looking forward to meeting the DellaPennas in person for the first time. Both Anne and Frank have been very nice to me on the phone and online. So far, I'm only mildly nervous, LOL, since I'm so shy (not).
What else has been going on since my last entry? Since I just woke up, I forgot what else I wanted to write about....
Except for pulling a muscle or something in my leg, I am feeling a lot healthier. Since I began taking supplements religiously I definitely have a lot more energy than I did before. For example,I've been giving my house a thorough cleaning. It's been almost 2 years since we finished the addition plus 1 year since we remodeled the kitchen. Until now, I still had not gotten the place back together. Finally the task is feeling manageable. I'm still working on my sleeping and over eating issues but progress is being made for sure in these areas! Last night I went to Pilates class after a two week break for the instructor's vacation and my leg felt ok. Today I will hopefully be able to return to circuit training without reinjuring my leg. Ironically, I got hurt while rushing to get to the gym. I was trying to dust the ledge above my bathtub. Instead of taking the time to get a stool to stand on, I crawled up onto the side of the tub. When attempting to get down, I missed a step, twisted my leg, then fell back onto it with all my weight. Needless to say, my workout never happened that day. This was a valuable lesson to me about putting safety first. The accident could have been much worse!
I know there was more news to report. I will post again today if and when I remember what I wanted to say. Right now, I have to go pay bills and do other chores before work. So, bye for now!
